Happy New Year, everybody! It is officially 2016, and it’s been almost a week since I added the title of blogger to my resume. (Not a real resume, but the imaginary resume that we all carry in the back left pocket of our traveling pants. The collective pants that we all share… if we are a part of a sisterhood… or in my case, a brotherhood.) As a blogger, I now have the right to tell you how to live your life in 2016. And if you follow my advice, there’s a good chance that your life will get somewhat better in the near or distant future. Here are 6 ways to make 2016 awesome … or not:
6. BingWatch Anything On Netflix
If you can’t find anything that you really want to watch on
Netflix, then its better to watch something all way through than nothing at all. And for all you recent college grads, this tip will give you a distinct advantage over all your former classmates who also be will be looking for a job in 2016. By extending your attention spans even a second or two, you’re odds of getting hired will increase exponentially.
5. Wear Socks With Your Shoes
Fashion has its merit, but come on people… is it really worth risking a foot infection or getting bunions to look cool?
4. Expect To Fail
Better yet, celebrate your failures in the most outrageous way possible. Feel like you’ve got egg on your face? Go to the grocery store and dump an entire carton of eggs on your head. Be sure to record and upload it to
Youtube. There’s no better way to get over failure than to make yourself look like an idot on the internet.
3. Don’t Sweat The Small Stuff
That’s what all the experts were saying back in 2015. I disagree completely. I’d much rather sweat a little every day than spring a
Niagara Falls sized leak when it really counts.
2. Share Your Life Freely
Seriously, if you want to be a better person this year, try being a genuine person first. Set aside some time to get to know yourself again and remember who you really are. Then take the daring step of being honest with those closest to you.
1. Forgive Everyday
To error is human; to forgive, divine.
Letting go of disappointments, betrayals, our own short comings can often feel impossible, but the truth is… Unforgiveness only hurts the one who harbors it. So if you want a better 2016, you have to let go of the mooring lines of 2015.
